Parent Deals

P.E. Kit

During cold weather a tracksuit may be worn for outdoor P.E.

PE kits should be in school every day

Wellies or alternative footwear may be brought into school to change into for outdoor playtimes.

Swimming Kit

Children are required to wear black shoes, without built up heels, and without any coloured ‘flashes’, logos or laces. For games lessons children should wear trainers or plimsolls (trainers are recommended for KS2 games).

For reasons of health and safety children are not allowed to wear jewellery at school. The only exceptions are small objects of religious significance; watches, for the purpose of telling the time; and ear studs in pierced ears. To prevent injury children should remove ear studs for PE lessons, or if they cannot be taken out children should not wear earrings on the day they have PE. In exceptional circumstances, parents may provide a plaster to cover the studs.

Hair, nails and make up

Extreme hair styles are not appropriate for school. The use of styling products should be kept to a minimum and children should not have decorative patterns cut into their hair or have hair coloured or dyed. Long hair should be tied back at all times. Hair bands, ribbons/bows or ‘scrunchies’ should be plain and either red or black. Hair bands should not have large flowers attached. Make up and nail varnish should not be worn to school unless for an out of school hours’ function, for example a school disco. If a child does come wearing makeup, they will be told to remove it. No caps or other headwear are allowed inside school, with the exception of headwear worn for religious purposes and agreed by the school.

Monitoring by Staff

All staff will monitor the uniform of children in the school. If a child does not have appropriate footwear, unless a letter is sent in from their parent/carer stating there is a medical condition, they will be asked to change into black plimsolls. If a child does not have the correct PE kit in school on more than one occasion a letter will be sent home to their parent/carer.

If there is a reason why a child is not wearing the correct uniform the parent/carer should contact their class teacher.

Special Days, Visits and Extra-Curricular Activities

There may be days where children are asked to wear something other than their school uniform. Parents will be given notice of this, either on the school newsletter, or a year group letter. If a child is not able to find appropriate clothes for a themed day they may wear their school uniform. Children may wear their own clothes to school on their birthday.  For the majority of visits in school time children will be expected to wear their school uniform, so they can be easily identified. If the visit may involve the children getting their uniform dirty, parents will be informed that they may wear other footwear, or clothes. Children that are involved in extra-curricular activities organised by the school would normally be loaned a school kit or uniform appropriate to the activity.

The Role of Parents/Carers:

In choosing Eastergate CE Primary School parents/carers are expected to support the school’s uniform policy; sending their children to school in the correct uniform, in clean and good condition, and ready for learning.
